MANISH ARORA SPRING2011 RTW

November 22, 2010

The magnificent Mumbai man, Manish Arora, flaunts his “futuristic baroque” Spring designs down the Paris 2011 runway. This collection is completely immersed in Kemetic chic (i.e. Ancient Egyptian chic). I find most of the pieces to be a play off the Egyptians’ scarab beetle jewels, with the strong symmetrical structures, scarlet reds, rich golds, vivid blues & turquoise. You’ll definitely find the ornate patterns you would expect in Arora’s proclaimed baroque style, but for me, it goes right back into Egypt with the desert sand influence on some of the dresses & sorts; I mean, it’s straight reminiscent of crafting day, gluing colored sand to paper. Am I right?
