EST. 2006 – The RI$I$M website was initially created under the influence of street culture, art, design, fashion, music, & all things inspiriting, man-made or natural. I felt the need to express everyday life as art, so I created RI$I$M as a platform for my explorations. My blog posts throughout the years consisted of local happenings, event coverage, & all things funky. As much as I love archiving all-amazing things, a transition in life calls that I turn this domain into my own personal portfolio site. Bare with me as RI$I$M posts transition from a fashion & culture blog to a site about.. me.
Known as Ris Money, Diss Ris, Ris Regal, Ris La Rock, or just good ol’ Christine Tena, I go by many names, but always am essentially the same. As most creatives are, I am all over the place. I do this, I do that, but if anything, I am an artist first. Most of my endeavors are of visual results as I am deeply embedded in the worlds of hip-hop, art, & fashion.
My eye for aesthetics has brought me to an assortment of trades. I am a visual artist of many facets, including graphic art, painting, photojournalism, styling, and crafting my own accessory line within “honeyBOOM: Street Boutique” – a vintage sportswear-inspired pop-up shop under my proprietary. I am also a part-time event producer & director, including events like my own fashion show productions, “Funk in the Trunk: Street Couture,” & “Design.Define.Detroit.: Fashion Industry Gala.” I’ve written & taken photos for blogs that cover mostly fashion events, including Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week. I take on many tasks, but each project has my 100%. In the words of Phife Dawg of ATCQ, “I come correct in full effect…”
I am native to the Bay Area of Northern California, a first generation American with both my parents hailing from the Philippine Islands. I’ve moved across the states from the left coast to the third coast to the Great Lakes (California to Texas to Michigan). I’ve gained both spiritual & creative inspiration with each step & move I’ve made in my life.
I’m working on pursuing a career in the creative fields of design, fashion, & events. I freelance in Art & Creative Direction, Graphic Design, Image Consulting, Blogging, Event Production & Management. My creative energy is boundless and I try to put it to its full capacity.
