SANS SALTINE SHOES
January 14, 2011
Valet Mag presents daily tips for you modern gentlemen.. though some advice is one for all.. Here, we’re reposting a kind guide on cleaning off street salt off shoes. If you live in snowy areas, then you especially understand this affliction. Keep them kickers clean:
via Valet Mag:
“Each winter, the United States uses 18,000 tons of salt on roads and sidewalks. Inevitably, a good portion of that salt will get absorbed into your shoes—leaving otherwise beautiful footwear dried out and stained. It’s important to remember that the salt starts drying and warping the leather quickly, so act fast. Here’s how to save your shoes:
1/ Make a solution of one part plain white vinegar to two parts water.
2/ Dab the solution onto the stains, working from the outside toward the center of the stain.
3/ Dampen a clean cloth with water and wipe down the shoe to remove any lingering vinegar.
4/ Press a dry cloth into the leather to remove out any residual moisture.
5/ Let them air dry for a day and then condition, buff or polish as usual.”

I GOT SOLE: SPIKED LOUBOUTINS
December 10, 2010
I was just elated that sneakers weren’t at all ruled out at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, but then again, we aren’t just talking about any kind of sneakers. My neighbor at one of the shows in the tents had on a pair of Christian Louboutin studded spiked kicks, so I had to snap. I’d like to see a sneaker head with a pair of these in their collection, y’know, next to their Jordans or something.
KEITH HARING x NICHOLAS KIRKWOOD
September 4, 2010
Shoe designer, Nicholas Kirkwood, recently gave a sneak peek of his latest collaboration with the Keith Haring estate. Keith Haring’s pop art is practically the epitome of the 80s & early 90s. Reminiscent of such times, Nicholas Kirkwood blends today’s twisted & forward style with a classic form of art. According to style.com, Kirkwood stated,
““I watched this documentary called The Universe of Keith Haring, and though I know his style, I hadn’t seen the breadth of his work. I couldn’t stop thinking about how amazing and prolific he was and how great it would be to incorporate his graphics into my designs,” Kirkwood explained. “So I ended up approaching the Keith Haring Foundation. I had to really sell them the product, but I think they’re pretty happy with the end result.””
12 styles from the Keith Haring by Nicholas Kirkwood collection will be available world-wide in February of 2011. Going back to the future.
