I Have a Heart On – Spotted: Celebrity actress & singer Miley Cyrus spotted at Birmingham, MI streetwear boutique, REVIVE MI.
The up & coming film industry in Michigan has been bringing in an abundance of celebrities into town, which are notable experiences for the humble residents of the Mitten State. Celebrities have been spotted walking the streets numerous times for the last couple years since Michigan Governor Granholm approved a tax break for film makers. The folk of fame, I’m sure, enjoy strolling down these streets considering that there are about 1/10 amount of people in the Detroit Metro area compared to Hollywood. The best part is, though, they have been supporting the local boutiques & shops.

My dad refers to the summer storm season as “June Gloom,” for obvious reasons like it would be June, & the sky would be gloomy.. Although, the storms have been prominent way past June this year, making it “Not Dry July” & possibly “Aqua August” [haha]. I’m not mad at it though; the 95% humidity, 80 degree nights, & overcast is straight tropical, even out here in the Midwest. Also, swimming in the hot rain has been one of my favorite pastimes this year. It seems the storms have been around just as much as the sun has, the only thing that makes it considerable summer weather is that it’s hot than a mug! How does one dress for such a bi-polar forecast? I suggest getting comfortable in your swim suit, throw some golaches in your beach bag, & wear acrylic jewelry.

Fashion In Detroit Local Design Contest for 2010
Fashion In Detroit (FID) – Michigan’s premier annual fashion event – is giving one talented Michigan-based fashion designer a grant to showcase his or her collection to buyers and fashion industry insiders.
In addition to a confirmed time slot at the October 2011 shows, the $2,500 designer fee will be waived.
The contest is open to both students and established designers. To enter, designers must send a cover letter, resume and photos of five different designs (showing both full-length and details for each design) to firstname.lastname@example.org midnight, Aug. 1, 2010. The winner will be announced on Day 1 of this year’s Fashion In Detroit event, taking place Oct. 22-23, 2010.
Fashion In Detroit is an annual, two-day fashion event co-created by Project Runway’s Joe Faris, along with Karen Buscemi, K’Kio Hardin, Lians Jadan and Leslie Ann Pilling to put a fashion spotlight on Michigan and create a venue that fills the needs of many locally based designers and the Michigan fashion community. This year’s Fashion In Detroit will take place at the luxurious and modern Motor City Casino Hotel, in Detroit, Michigan.
The two-day event will include 12 runway shows by a collection of local and national designers, designer trunk shows, “Cheers Michigan” product displays, a VIP private reception, and an Afterglow bash. Each day’s admission ticket includes six fashion shows, gift bags, a souvenir guidebook/lookbook and eligibility for high-end giveaways.
Fashion In Detroit will feature top models showcasing the best designs of Spring/Summer 2011. The spacious seating arrangements allow room for 700 buyers, fashion industry insiders, VIP guests and fashion lovers each day.
