On Saturday, February 25, 2012, The Style Dolls and honeyBOOM joined forces to present a one-time vintage clothing sale and fashion preview: styleBOOM. Excuse the pun, but the event went out in a BOOM. With Chocolate Shop Vintage and Adriana Pavon adding on to the shopping experience, Detroiters were able to indulge in their retail tendencies and witness a runway showcase within the Detroit Fashion Collective space located in downtown Detroit. See the photos below, shot by Carl Jones, for the event highlights and runway show.

Watch www.confessionsofaglamaholic.com‘s video spotlighting of Styles in the City, but what I especially want you to look out for is the footage of honeyBOOM backstage & on the runway! You see a bit at the 0:57 mark & some of the runway around the 2:34-3:25 mark! Check it! & thanks to the GlamAholics!

You could hardly tell (purposely, that is), but here’s a eeny weeny peek at honeyBOOM’s Resort Collection to be shown at the Styles in the City runway on July 10, 2011! Be sure to catch it first-hand at COBO Hall Riverview room this weekend! For more info, check this post out: honeyBOOM at Styles in the City July 9 & 10. This shot is from the Styles in the City rehearsal & is a screenshot straight from a behind the scenes video! Peep it below & see if you notice when HNYBM pops in! Hope to see you there!

NYFW: PERRY ELLIS FALL 2011

February 21, 2011

My New York trip this season kicked off with Perry Ellis opening up my first day in town. After a late-night arrival & half an hour in the morning, I was quickly replenished after a rushed revisit to the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week tents with moderate doses of Starbucks Fraps & bottled yogurt. With no ails, the hunky Perry Ellis runway show tailored to the traditional gentlemen with classic layering & modern styling. My favorite details are with the hunter’s shoulder patched coats, shawl collars, chunky socks, & stone-washed color schemes. After all forty looks made its debut, the models took a group stroll rockin’ matching long sleeves & white long johns – nice & fitted. Check the full Perry Ellis Fall 2011 collection below, photos taken by Winnie Jeng of FORMzine! My photos are the seating point-of-view like above!

The lovable Project Runway co-host, Tim Gunn, graced metro-Detroiters with a fashion show under Liz Claiborne Inc. presenting fall wear from Juicy Couture, Kate Spade NY, & Lucky Brand Jeans. Of course, I come in extremely fashionably late, so I was only able to capture the Q&A portion. As the Somerset audience sought advice from the fashion guru, Tim Gunn gave brutally honest answers, only what we would only expect from the Tim we know & love.

Tim gave simple fashion advice such as what to wear this fall at your age, to more serious tones with how to approach a fashion career. One of the pieces of advice that Mr. Gunn stated while discussing a career in fashion with an aspiring designer was along the lines of “Unless fashion is your total life, where you couldn’t do anything else outside of it, don’t do it.” (paraphrased)

See our friends at Glamorous Moms for more thorough coverage, being that they came early enough to see the entire show ;)
